The accumulation of twenty years creating professional-level digital percussion has led to Alesis’ latest offering, the Alesis DM6 Kit. With a high quality rack system, and hardware loaded with responsive pads, the kit feels as good as ever and an improved sound module featuring 108 drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds gives you the voice to match.
The Kit
The Alesis DM6 Kit consists of three tom pads, dual-zone snare pad, an upright kick drum pad, bass drum pedal, hi-hat, hi-hat pedal, crash and ride cymbal pads. All pads feature natural rubber that reduces vibration feedback and actually feels natural to play, giving a familiar feel.
The kick pad on the Alesis DM6 Kit can be used with any bass drum pedal, so you can get out an old favourite or get something that suits your own playing style a little more, should you want to. The snare drum also offers more options as, being dual-zoned, you can attribute a snare sound for the centre and a rimshot or click or something totally different for the rim.
The Alesis DM6 Kits rack is seriously heavy-duty, made up of 1 ½” aluminium tubing that accommodates the pads and module, with all the necessary mounting hardware and cables included. The tubing of the rack, being a standardized size, will also allow you to use other brands of clamps and mounts should you want to.
The Electronics
At the core of the Alesis DM6 Kit is the DM6 Module. Loaded up with a staggering collection of high quality drums, cymbals and other percussion instruments. With 10 presets already in place from opening the box, you’re set up to rock from the off. If this is still not enough you have five custom slots for you to edit and save your own kits to.
The Alesis DM6 Kit can even be used as a trigger-to-MIDI interface when hooked up to BFD, Toontrack, or Reason (among other drum module software) via the USB output to extend the versatility of this kit even further.
The Alesis DM6 Kit offers great connectivity with the ability to hook up an MP3 or CD player. There are also headphone and amplifiers outputs so you can play in silence or the total opposite…
Along with the neighbour-friendly headphones socket and the ability to plug in an external music device the Alesis DM6 Kit is also great for practice because of its built-in sequencer that is already loaded with 40 tacks for you to play along with. There is even a metronome to keep you in time.

Great starter drum kit with a wide range of sounds available and large enough kit to make it feel like a proper drum kit. Was recommended in the drum shop although I'd have preferred an acoustic set, that would have lead to an eviction. Was a good enough kit that it lasted 2 years before I needed to upgrade it and I got back almost what I paid for it.
