Description

Details

The Allen & Heath QU16 Chrome Edition Digital Mixer is an exceptionally powerful digital mixing workstation in a compact and stylish package. Built using 18 gauge, cold-rolled Zintec steel, the QU-16 is crafted with strength and resilience at its core. The sleek profile is designed to optimise airflow through the mixer to eliminate the need for fans and reduce the noise produced by the mixer itself. As you'd expect from the company behind the pioneering GLD and iLive digital mixing systems, the QU-16 is a class-leader in audio performance and not only gets the job done, but does it in style with key features that include: multitrack recording direct to USB, Automatic Mic Mixing, ProFactory mic presets, plus a plethora of apps, accessories and remote I/O.

Analogic Preamps

The Qu-16 is equipped with sixteen AnalogiQ digitally controlled preamps that translate harmonious with the built in digital signal processing to offer flawless performance, with optimal gain accuracy and audio fidelity. The analogue signal is captured by high-class, low latency 24-bit analogue-to-digital (AD) converters that transmit in exquisite high quality. With minimal distortion, super low noise floor, and faithful audio transparency, what more could you ask for? Oh, each analogue fader corresponds to a mono input channel, so you don't have to dig through several layers to find what you want, everything is at your fingertips and good to go.

The integrated multitrack USB recorder delivers 18 channels of 48kHz, 24-bit recording and playback via USB key or hard drive, making it great for laying down elaborate performances anywhere and everywhere.

Seamless control

To some, the signal routing options afforded by a mixing desk can be cause for a minor breakdown, something Allen & Heath have not only sought to remedy, but have done so with aplomb. There are 16 mono Mic/Line inputs (spanning TRS & XLR), as well as stereo line inputs that can be routed with ease via their corresponding faders just as with a standard analogue setup. However, thanks to the intuitive Graphic User Interface (GUI) via the built-in True Colour Touchscreen with dedicated rotary encoder, access to all setting and parameters is within easy reach. Partnered to the touchscreen is the SuperStrip, a set of single function controllers that offer tactile adjustment over gain, high pass filter, 4-band parametric EQ, gate, compressor, graphic EQ, and pan.

The beauty of digital mixing is having the ability to save and recall Scenes (snapshots) of channel/mix settings at the touch of a button. There are 17 motorized ALPS faders that cover input channels and masters, as well as a dedicated master fader for the Mix section. Custom control is also allowed with regard to ad-hoc strip layout and Input, FX Send/Return, DCA and Mix master assignment.

Extensive versatility

As well as providing a solid hardware base, the QU-16 is compatible with a vast range of software that enhances the functionality and versatility of this already outstanding piece of kit. Allen & Heath have partnered with leading microphone manufacturer's Shure, Sennheiser and Audio-Technica to provide EQ Library presets across a huge range of instruments. Whether you're getting creative at home or a working professional, you have an arsenal of mics available at the touch of a button.

Borrowing from the iLive pro touring series, the QU benefits from a fantastic range of classic reverbs, gated reverbs, delays, modulators, and more - as chosen by some of the world's leading audio engineers on the road.

The Allen and Heath QU16 Chrome Edition Compact Digital Mixer is compatible with both Mac OS and Windows for seamless DAW integration - simply plug 'n play, and you're all set.
