The 50th Anniversary of Marshall Les Paul and Bluesbreaker collectors package has now arrived at Dawsons
The highly limited Gibson 50th Anniversary of Marshall Les Paul and Bluesbreaker package has arrived in stock at Dawsons. This stunning collectors pack celebrates the pairing of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest icons: the Les Paul guitar, and the Marshall amp. Whilst the Les Paul had already established itself as a premium solid body guitar, it was not until Jim Marshall unleashed his amps on the world in the ‘60s, and the humbucker equipped ’57 Les Paul ‘found’ them, that the tone for which this guitar is best known was born.
This package contains an accurate replica of a ’57 Les Paul, with a stunning Marshall 1962 Series II Bluesbreaker combo, and is limited to just 50 units worldwide.
The amp inspired by Clapton
The amp included in the 50th Anniversary of Les Paul Bluesbreaker package was inspired by a request by none other than Eric Clapton. The legend has it that he requested a combo amp that he could fit into the boot of his car. Jim Marshall set to work, and the Bluesbreaker was the result.
This 2 x 12, 30-Watt combo is driven by 2 x KT66 valves with 4 x ECC83 pre-amp valves and a GZ34 valve rectifier. The result, when paired with a humbucker loaded Les Paul, is the sort of tone that blues and rock guitarists have held as the ‘holy grail’ for decades since.
The ’57 Les Paul included in this pack is a beautiful, gold top example, hand aged by legendary Custom Shop luthier, Tom Murphy. Tom’s ageing work adds to the desirability of any guitar. Here, it adds even more to what is already one of the most collectable guitars Gibson has ever produced.
With a ‘50s neck profile, and Burstbucker pickups recreating the tonal character of the legendary PAF humbuckers, the 50th Anniversary of Marshall Les Paul package is truly a fitting tribute to the legendary British amplifier brand.
