The Ashdown MiBass Combo Bass Amps, recently announced at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, add to the two highly portable bass amp heads in the MiBass range. The two heads, the MiBass 220 and MiBass 550 provided classic, warm and full Ashdown tone, in a box that would slide into a gig bag pocket (no exaggeration). The two combo models, the Ashdown MiBass 220 110 Combo, and the Ashdown MiBass 550 115 Combo take this ethic, and build it into lightweight, portable cabinets. With the same, great tone, and simple yet versatile controls, this is every bit a classic Ashdown amp.

Lightweight design, room-filling tone

The Ashdown MiBass Combo is available in two different types, as previously mentioned. The MiBass 220 110 is a 220W amp, with 1 x 10” speaker, whilst the more powerful MiBass 550 115 is a 550W amp, with 1 x15” speaker. Despite being designed to be lightweight and portable (the MiBass 220 110 is a mere 16.2kg, with the MiBass 550 115 just 21kg), the tone is anything but ‘low-fat’. Big, warm and defined, the MiBass Combo punches well above its weight.

Via a small selection of well chosen, and logically laid out controls, the MiBass Combo is capable of a wide variety of usable controls. At the input, a switch allows the level to be changed for active or passive instruments, with the familiar VU meter for easy reference of input level. An EQ section allows for tonal shaping, with Deep and Shape controls which allow more bass to be added, or a ‘Slap’ friendly tone to be switched in, respectively.
