The ID amp range expands, with the Blackstar ID 30 and Blackstar ID 15
The Blackstar ID guitar amp range was a real hit when it was launched back in March. Packing the new LOUD as valve technology into a range of powerful combos and amp heads, they provided huge variety of tone, but with enough plenty of ‘wallop’ for gig situations.
However, for some, an ID amp that featured the tonal options, in a size that could be easily stored or carried for practice would be ideal. Blackstar have clearly been listening to those folk, and the result is the new Blackstar ID 30 and ID 15.
True Valve Power in a compact combo
The technology that underpins the Blackstar ID range of amplifiers recreates the power amp response of a wide variety of classic power valves. EL84, 6V6, KT66, KT88, EL34 and 6L6 responses can be dialled in as required, providing access to a huge range of amp tones.
Rather than simply recreating the general ‘character’ of the tone, the Blackstar ID range replicate the dynamic response, break-up and sag that you’d expect to hear in those amps.
Many amps that claim to do this tend to provide power levels that are a bit, well, lacking when compared to a ‘fire breathing’ all-valve equivalent. The Blackstar ID range differs in this regard. The ‘LOUD as Valve’ technology equipped provides classic valve responses at the volume levels that you’d expect from a real valve amp.
The Blackstar ID 15 and ID 30 provide all of this in practice amp dimensions. Here are the key features:
- 30-Watt and 15-Watt versions – The Blackstar ID 30 and ID 15 respectively
- LOUD as Valve – replicates valve power amp response
- Six power amp voicing – EL84, 6V6, KT66, KT88, EL34 and 6L6
- 3-Band EQ with Blackstar’s renowned ISF EQ – Infinite Sound Feature allows mid frequencies to be morphed between US and British style EQ
- Onboard effects
- Edit in detail via editing software – The ID 15 and ID can be connected to a host computer via USB, to edit sounds in detail with Blackstar Insider software
- 128 User presets
