ROLE: Ecommerce Trading Manager
REPORTS TO: Head of Ecommerce
LOCATION: Warrington HO

Job Purpose

Deliver an engaging online customer experience that excites and connects with our audience to drive sales and profit. Be responsible for driving new initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and maximising conversion. Own all aspects of on-site merchandising and trading, ensuring that the brand is maintained and protected at all times.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver agreed web targets, including sales, profit, order conversion and AOV
  • Manage and mentor a team of Web Admins to ensure that products and associated content is added to and removed from the website in a timely manner
  • Take ownership of onsite merchandising to ensure maximum product visibility across search, navigation, category and product pages
  • Effectively manage on-site tools to build profitable customer journeys, eg. on-site search, personalisation
  • Identify and implement strategies to increase AOV and product cross sells
  • Work with the Buying team to ensure that stock levels, allocation and replenishment is optimised for the website
  • Manage and co-ordinate the web trading calendar, ensuring that all promotional activity is effectively executed
  • Work with the Buying team to monitor online pricing and make recommendations for pricing strategies
  • Work with the Buying team, and where appropriate, Suppliers, to identify areas of opportunity with regard to new products, on-site offers and promotions
  • Administer regular competitor activity and report findings
  • Use web analytics and/or other reporting to ensure the customer experience and subsequent conversion is maximised
  • Actively participate in trading meetings
  • Monitor and analyse on-site KPIs, regular reporting on findings and identifying initiatives to improve their performance, with specific emphasis on AOV and order conversion rates
  • Research, develop and effectively contribute to the company online strategy
  • Work with the Customer Service team to review delivery charges and make suggestions on cost reduction
  • Work alongside Search and PPC teams to ensure that landing pages are fully optimised
  • Oversee regular site audits to ensure that all content and product information is presented accurately
  • Work with the Retail team to ensure that offline and online initiatives are aligned
  • Champion eCommerce internally to educate and drive opportunities for multi-channel thinking

Required Skills

  • Strong web analytics skills ie. Google Analytics (certification preferred), must be able to assemble and interpret web data to create actionable insights
  • Highly competent in use of Excel
  • Strong numerical skills with the ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Highly competent with Content Management Systems / eCommerce platforms, Magento / basic HTML knowledge a bonus
  • Ability to operate in both a strategic and hands on capacity
  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with behavioural merchandising tools
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with both internal and external business teams
  • Musical instrument knowledge a distinct advantage
  • Highly commercial, results driven and customer centric


  • Proven experience of similar B2C online trading (ideally within a multi-channel environment) with demonstrable results
  • Solid eCommerce and retail experience, including all aspects of the online customer journey
  • Agency and people management is essential
