It seems Epiphone Guitars have been in rather short supply throughout the UK and Europe of late. Epiphone instruments are always so popular that it feels like no matter how many we had, they would disappear in the blink of an eye, however. For those who have been anticipating the arrival new models, or replenishments of classic lines, fear not- the Dawsons warehouse has just received a mammoth delivery of shiny new Epiphone’s, all awaiting new homes.
There are some great new models among them, too…
Epiphone Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul
This is one those Epiphone Guitars that seems to make people ask ‘why is the price so low?’ The reason? The Epi Ace Frehley has a specification that you’d expect to see on a ‘full-fat’ Gibson model. With period correct detailing, a solid mahogany body with maple top, and 3 DiMarzio ‘PAF’ humbuckers, the Epiphone Ace Frehley is a close match for the Les Paul the Kiss guitarist played during the band’s record breaking stint at the Budokan stadium.
Complete with a hardshell case, and a certificate of authenticity, the Epiphone Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul currently retails for £579 (correct as of 25/7/2012).
Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro has a set of specifications and features worthy of its very long name. The Plus Top Pro features the classic Les Paul formula; solid mahogany body and maple top, with a mahogany set neck and rosewood fingerboard. A stunning AAA flame maple veneer evokes the vibe of the classic ‘Bursts’ of yesteryear, and provides the ‘Plustop’ of the name.
It seems that Epiphone guitars are following in the footsteps of Gibson models very closely in 2012. And, like the new line of Gibson Les Paul Standards, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro is equipped with two humbuckers (Probuckers in this case) that can be coil tapped, vastly expanding the range of tones available from this guitar). Currently, this tone monster is priced at just £369 (price correct as of 25/7/12). This is ludicrously low, quite frankly.
