The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro – arriving at Dawsons soon
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro is the latest addition to the brand’s affordable Les Paul line up. It seems, with every new model, the guitar offers more, and this is no exception. As the name suggests, this upgrades the regular Epiphone Les Paul Standard. But with improved pickups and electronics, AAA maple finished top and more, this is better value than ever.
Coil Tapped, ProBucker Pickups
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro takes its design cues from the legendary Gibson model. Many of the key features of the Les Paul are present here, with a solid mahogany body capped with a maple top, and finished with AAA flamed maple veneer. The neck is the familiar, mahogany, glued in type, with a Rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. A 1960s Slimtaper profile ensures that it has the fast, comfortable neck of its older, more expensive siblings.
The onboard electronics are the major update to this new model, however. Two ProBucker humbuckers are equipped. These pickups are designed around the same alnico II magnets used in the legendary PAF humbuckers used in the early humbucker equipped Gibson Les Pauls of the late ‘50s. A ProBucker 2 is featured at the neck, with a slightly hotter Probucker 3 at the bridge. More unusually, these are wired such that they can be coil tapped, via push/ pull volume controls. This vastly increases the possible tones available from this guitar, allowing single coil tones to be dialled in, along with thick, rich, classic Les Paul tones.

- Coil tapping – huge range of tones available from coil-tapped push/ pull volume switches
- Grover tuners, and Locktone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece.
- Available in five finishes – Heritage Cherry Sunburst (LH version available), Trans Blue, Honeyburst, Vintage Sunburst and Wine Red
