Gibson Krist Novoselic RD Bass

Krist Novaselic RD bass is to be launched

It has just been made public, via Gibson ‘s news channel that a Gibson Krist Novoselic RD Bass, honouring the legendary Nirvana bassist, is to be released very shortly. Based on the template of a Gibson RD, this is a bass likely to deliver plenty of power, and be capable of handling a lot of punishment. The RD is a big, long scale bass guitar, robustly constructed, with a single cutaway and rounded (loosely…) explorer-like body. First manufactured in 1977, this classic Gibson bass features a maple body and neck, with ebony fingerboards on black and sunburst models, with two single coil pickups.

Gibson Krist Novoselic RD Bass*UPDATE* We have now received confirmation that the Kris Novoselic RD Bass is based very closely on this classic Gibson guitar design, but with a few twists. The main difference between this bass and a standard RD Bass lies in the pickups. The Gibson Krist Novoselic features a pair of Seymour Duncan Basslines Hot-Stack pickups, providing a best-of-both-worlds functionality (i.e. The rich harmonics of single coil, with the noise-cancelling properties and additional power of a humbucker. Also, rather than an ebony fingerboard, the Krist Novoselic RD features an exotic, obeche board. This is held under control by Grover, Shamrock key tuners. Finished in polished ebony nitrocellulose, this is a bass that sets itself apart from the crowd.

Whether you were a fan of Nirvana or otherwise, this classic Gibson RD will be a great bass guitar in its own right.
