As National Learn to Play Day approaches, the event is becoming bigger and better…
National Learn to Play Day, as mentioned previously in this blog, is a day where musical instrument and equipment retailers throw open their doors for anyone who has ever had aspirations of playing an instrument to come in and give it a try, with teachers on hand to provide tuition.
The guys at the MIA who are behind this excellent scheme, and our own team have been working hard to ensure that Learn to Play Day goes with a bang (or a twang, or a thump, depending on what you want to play…) They have assembled a growing army of teachers to be at Dawsons stores on the day, and in addition, some of the lovely folk from our many suppliers have also volunteered themselves to come along and share their passion for musical instruments.

Learn to Play Day is promising to be an excellent opportunity for anyone with an interest in learning to play.
Here is a list of what is going on at each Dawsons Store (ie. which instruments you can expect a teacher to be on hand to give some tuition for):
- Altrincham – 1 guitar teacher, 1 drum teacher and 1 keyboard/ piano and woodwind teacher
- Huddersfield – 2 guitar teachers, 1 drum teacher, 1 keyboard, bowed strings and woodwind teacher

At Huddersfield, Joe Carroll from Kawai will be around to provide some piano and keyboard based guidance, plus we will be at the Lowry Outlet mall with Korg and Vox, bringing Learn to Play Day to the wider world.
More teachers are being added to those already attending regularly- keep posted for updates. If you’d like to book a slot with a teacher at a particular time at your chosen store, call the relevant store to arrange. Alternatively, just pop in on the day, and we’ll be more than happy to help.
