One of the earliest announcements of those expected at the NAMM 2015 show comes from Swedish synth and stage piano experts Nord. The Nord Electro 5 has been built by taking the already amazing Electro 4 model and upgrading every aspect possible to create one of the most well-rounded live performances keyboard currently available.
Piano Section – Bigger library than ever
A full 1GB of piano sample memory has been fitted to the Nord Electro 5, meaning you can carry even more of Nord’s famous range of sampled acoustic and electric pianos with you to gigs. Additionally, Sympathetic String Resonance technology has been included, a feature first seen on the Nord Piano. This subtle enhancement adds to the already high level of realism present on grand and upright acoustic model samples.
Improved Synth Section
One of the biggest improvements to the new Electro 5 model is the synth section overhaul. 256MB of dedicated synth sample memory has been made available for use with the Nord Sample library, an excellent resource featuring free sounds from some huge names alongside exclusively licensed sounds from heralded instruments such as the Mellotron and Chamberlin.
Also improved is the much-loved organ section, now featuring a Principal Pipe Organ mode and B3 Tone Wheel Bass. The latter adds 16” and 8” bass drawbars in the left hand, which can even be used with the Piano and Sample sections to thicken up the sound.
Also present are the classic Tone Wheel and Rotary speaker simulations, giving you a well-rounded and fully-featured organ line-up.
A small but important change, the new Nord Electro 5 features a new OLED display for improved visibility during sound selection and program editing.
Effects – Now in full stereo
Every single effect on this new model is in full stereo, whilst delay and reverb are now treated as separate effects. All of the expected effects are here, including an in-depth modulation section featuring a new vibe effect and a new tube overdrive in the amp section. The Electro5 effects section can also be controlled by a control pedal (Tremolo, Pan, Ring Modulation and Wah only).
New Set List Mode
Live performers can now organise groups of programs for each song in their set list, with up to 4 programs per song. This can all be done without the use of a computer or any external gear, meaning you can easily collate all of your bands set lists for even easer gigs!
The Nord Electro 5 is expected to arrive in the UK in April 2015, pricing is still to be announced. If you have any questions or would like to pre-order please contact us on 01925 582 420 / firstname.lastname@example.org or ask in your local store.
