Nord Drum due to be unveiled at NAMM 2012?
The Nord Drum is set to be unvieled very soon, it seems. Swedish synth giants, Nord, have released a ‘teaser’ image, implying that a drum machine is to be revealed at the NAMM show next week. Featuring the Nord Drum (its current rumoured name), the image features a wedge shaped device in profile, with the familiar red livery visible on the front fascia. The caption beneath reads ‘The drums of the future come from the past’, perhaps implying that this is due to be more akin to the vintage drum ‘synths’ of the ‘70s and ‘80s, rather than the more modern, ample playback based units. It is unheard of that a new Nord product is less than excellent, so the prospect of a vintage styled Nord Drum machine, is an exciting prospect.
Nord ‘s illustrious history of Electronic Drums
Whilst it may seem that the Nord Drum is the brand’s first foray into the world of percussion, in actual fact, Clavia (the ‘umbrella’ company from which the Nord synth brand grew) developed the very first digital percussion device, the snappily titled Digital Percussion Plate 1. This may be unfamiliar, but the product evolved into the ddrum brand, producing a groundbreaking range of electronic percussion.
The Nord Drum continues this legacy, and seems likely to add yet another cutting edge, hugely desirable synthesiser to the Nord range. Stay posted for more updates…
