We celebrate the launch of Propellerhead Reason 6.5 with two great competitions and a whole host more…
At Dawsons during July, we are celebrating the launch of Propellerhead Reason 6.5. This is undoubtedly the most significant update to the Reason platform since its launch. Version 6 added the audio recording functionality, leaving the lack of expandability via plug-ins the only feature Reason fans were still hungry for.
Propellerhead’s defence has always been that introducing a standard plug-in protocol would make Reason inefficient and unstable. Given just how efficient and stable Reason is, their reluctance is understandable.
In Reason 6.5, however, things have changed… Propellerhead unveiled Rack Extensions. Billed as ‘Full Reason Rack Citizens’, these are in essence additional rack devices that can be purchased and added to the array of effects and instruments available, all with rear patch connections, and all as easy to use as everything else in Reason. And, if that isn’t enough, Korg, Rob Papen, FXPansion and many more are already developing for the format.
Win Reason 6.5 and a Propellerhead Balance Interface, or win a copy of Reason 6.5
At Dawsons, we’re really excited by this development. And to share our enthusiasm, we’re running two competitions that will allow two lucky people to get a copy of Reason 6.5 for themselves, with one winner taking home a superb Propellerhead Balance interface, courtesy of Reason’s UK distributor, Sound Technology.
The Balance represents the Props’ first foray into the hardware marketplace. As you might expect from those innovative Swedes, it is delivered with a huge bag of style, and incredible audio quality. The unit is a neat, desktop design, which connects via USB and features two inputs and outputs.
This is every bit a premium device, however, a fact reflected in the audio quality, which compares to that of interfaces at far higher prices, and the quality of the two onboard microphone pre-amps. Other features, such as clip safe mode plus tight integration with Reason make the Balance one of the most thoughtfully and stylishly designed, and best sounding audio interfaces available at its price.

Great! How can I win them?
In our first competition you could win a full copy of Reason 6.5 via Twitter. All you have to do is Re-Tweet the following:
