Our Stockport Guitar Lessons are based around the Rockschool series of exams and syllabus. These guitar lessons also allow the guitar teacher to add their own experience and teaching methods while still keeping a disciplined framework and teaching process.
The teachers will use modern songs as a basis for their music lessons which encourages learning. There’s nothing better than learning to play the music you hear on the radio! They’ll also cover some of the classic songs and learn the techniques used by those original guitarists to play them. Also as part of the guitar lessons they will learn different skills on the guitar including pinched harmonics, strumming techniques and guitar solos. Students will also learn guitar scales and different guitar tunings.
Since the courses are based around the Rockschool syllabus each guitar class works towards the Rockschool exams which are held approximately once a year. This gives the guitar class something to work towards and provides real exam results that are recognised by music departments in schools all across the UK.

Stockport Guitar Teacher
Lee initially started to learn guitar at the age of 6 years old. He took the Trinity and LCM graded exams from an early age, initially studying classical and flamenco styles. At the age of 12 he moved onto the electric guitar and started to study under the RGT exam board learning modern Rock and Pop styles. Since then Lee has played in many different bands, playing at multiple venues including the Manchester Academy 2 and 3 at the age of 16. Whilst attending college, Lee studied a Music Production and Technology course which led him to go onto the Foundation Degree in Commercial Music Production at Chester University in 2009.
Since leaving University, Lee has previously set up, ran and owned a successful recording studio in Cheshire where he recorded, produced and played on multiple bands tracks and songs. He also worked on a recording session in London, playing with Derek Nash of Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Band. In 2012 he was awarded the RGT Associated Tutor’s Certificate and continues to teach through various exam boards at the Dawsons Music School, Stockport, and one to one in his local area.
Lee strives to lead lessons in a way that suits all the students’ needs and playing ability, to ensure a fun and progressive learning environment, where all students can be the best players possible. All lessons at Dawsons are group sessions and are arranged so that all students learn at the same pace and last for one hour. Group sizes are limited to six, dependant on age and ability.
Lee enjoys listening to music from artists such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Rage Against the Machine, Dream Theater, Machine Head, Joe Bonamassa, Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Clapton, Andy McKee, Slash, Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, or anything with an interesting and great guitar riff.

Book Your Free Trial Guitar Lesson at Dawsons Stockport
Submit your details above and someone will contact you within 2 working days to arrange your free trial guitar lesson.
Your free trial guitar lesson at our Stockport store will last approximately 30-45 minutes and gives a taster of the course. We will also explain the cost of the lessons and advise of available lesson times.
Free Trial Lessons (FTL) are open to anyone (providing they are above the minimum age) so it really is NEVER too late to learn. All of our Stockport guitar teachers have adult classes and in some cases operate mixed age classes so we really do have something for everyone.
Where a prospective student has previous experience the guitar teacher may offer a free one-to-one consultation instead of a FTL, with a view to putting the student into an already existing guitar class.
Please note that free trial guitar lessons at Stockport take place when there are enough students to fill a group, this may mean your details being kept on a waiting list until the next available FTL. Some of our music schools only offer lessons during term-time, where this is the case FTLs are held in term-time.
Free taster guitar lessons are available to those who are not already existing students of Dawsons Music School at Stockport. A taster guitar lesson will be held by arrangement with the teacher providing the student is above the minimum age for the relevant course.
