To celebrate the release of his limited edition Farida acoustic guitar, Steve Rothery, famous to millions as the guitarist and founder of prog legends Marillion, will be appearing at a very special evening of music and conversation at the exclusive Red Door venue in Chester on the evening of Sunday May 20th.
The event will be hosted in conjunction with the world renowned Farida guitar brand, with whom Steve has designed his new Farida A-SR electro-acoustic model, and Schertler amplification, who will be providing a selection of their top of the range acoustic amps for the evening.
This event is not only a chance to hear some fantastic playing from one of the UK’s finest homegrown talents, but also a rare opportunity to chat to Steve about his new guitar model, career, and playing, in the intimate ambience of the Red Door Bar. Also appearing with Steve on the night will be Dave Foster of Mr So&So, and well known pro guitarist and producer Matt Prior. Dave will be familiar to British Guitar academy regulars as a player of great ability and knowledge, and will be performing with Steve as well as taking questions on gear, technique, and all things guitar.
Matt is best currently best known for his work with Bonnie Tyler, and has also worked with a great variety of different musicians including Sam Brown, Paul Carrack and Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, as well as working on countless film and TV projects.
The evening will be an opportunity to grab a first look at Steve’s superb, and extremely exclusive, new signature model, which are limited to just 25 guitars available worldwide. Also being showcased will be a selection of other exceptional Farida models, demonstrated by UK Farida brand manager Sam Salisbury.
Accomodation is available directly above the Red Door venue at The Blossoms Hotel, or just around the corner at Travelodge Chester . Also of interest for anyone making the journey is the North West guitar show which is also on the 20th May, perfect for guitar fans wanting to make a weekend of it.
All in all we think this should be a fantastic evening, a unique chance to see see some very special guitarists playing some great music in a relaxed, intimate venue, and also give some much needed support an incredibly worthwile local charity.
