Vox is a name synonymous with guitar amplification, and in particular, the distinctive, chiming, clean tone popularised in the 1960s by, amongst others, a little known beat combo called the Beatles. Whilst musical trends have come and gone, the trademark Vox AC series guitar sound has remained as popular as ever. And, as a testament to that fact, Vox is set to release a new addition to the AC range, the Vox AC15C2. Based around the ‘little brother’ of the range, the Vox AC15C1, the new AC15C2 features twin 12” Celestion Greenback speakers, which enhance the ringing, bright clean tone for which the AC range is famed. In addition, it also shares the larger spring reverb tank of the AC30. With the distinctive Vox appearance, this guitar amp seems destined to be another classic.
Whilst Vox have a legacy of world-renowned amps that stretches back to the 1960s, their more recent Valvetronix amps have gained legions of fans, due to a combination of excellent tone, incredible versatility and great value. Vox are set to expand this range with a new addition, the Vox VTX150. Based around a next generation incarnation of their ‘Valve Reactor’ technology, which, for the uninitiated, is a combination of cutting edge amp modelling, and real tube circuitry, the VTX150 has features that set it apart from previous Valvetronix products. Firstly, it is based around a 12” Celestion Vox Neodog speaker, which provides an unprecedented level of power with the minimum of weight. It also features a unique ‘Power’ control, allowing for high levels of gain and distortion without the need for high volume, unless of course you need it… In addition, 44 preset tones are provided which emulate those of classic guitar tracks. Of the 44 amp models featured, accurate models of Vox’s substantial legacy are represented with reverential accuracy. Complete with an effects loop output and an extension cabinet output, the popularity of the Valvetronix range looks set to continue.
Finally, the small, but perfectly formed Vox Mini3 is now available in classic Vox livery, with a Black, vinyl wrapped cabinet, and distinctive, brown diamond cloth. Featuring 11 classic amp models, the option to power via a PSU or batteries, and including a free carry strap, this is an ideal practice amp, or even travel amp for camping (festivals anyone?), and now just as good looking as its big brothers.
All of the above amps will be available at Dawson’s soon. Call your local Dawsons Music store or customer service team (01925 582420) for details.
