Rockschool Guitar Lessons for ages 8+
Our Warrington Guitar Lessons are based around the Rockschool series of exams and syllabus. These guitar lessons also allow the guitar teacher to add their own experience and teaching methods while still keeping a disciplined framework and teaching process.
The teachers use modern songs as a basis for their music lessons which encourages learning. There’s nothing better than learning to play the music you hear on the radio! They’ll also cover some of the classic songs and learn the techniques used by those original guitarists to play them. Also as part of the guitar lessons they will learn different skills on the guitar including pinched harmonics, strumming techniques and guitar solos. Students will also learn guitar scales and different guitar tunings.
Since the some of the courses are based around the Rockschool syllabus each guitar class works towards the Rockschool exams which are held approximately once a year. This gives the guitar class something to work towards and provides real exam results that are recognised by music departments in schools all across the UK. Our results this year have been unbelievably good. Our five Grade 6’s quickly continued to Grade 7 with success. Earlier in the year, we had two passes at Grade 8 – one on Bass! Plus lots more passes of all grades. At our next exam session, in November, it is the turn of our six Grade 6’s.
Guitar lessons in Warrington are £13.00 for a 45 minute lesson and this is payable in monthly blocks on the first lesson of each block. The Rockschool examination books can be purchased from the Dawsons store or the teacher. Please enquire at the music school for prices.

Warrington Guitar Teachers
One of the most experienced and versatile guitar tutors in the area. Jim has taught for many years at High Schools, A-Level Colleges and Primary Schools. He founded the Guitar School at Dawsons over 12 years ago and 3 years ago established the school as a Rockschool Centre. Few would dispute that he is the most dedicated and committed guitar tutor they know.
Matt has all of the required attributes of a great guitar teacher. He is talented, committed and methodical and can quickly identify the needs of each student, helping to cater his meticulous preparation accordingly.
Mike is taking time out from his band, the Anecdotes, who have enjoyed success both on record and live, supporting top indie bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club. Like all of our teachers his lessons are both well-organised and professional.

Book Your Free Trial Guitar Lesson at Dawsons Warrington
Submit your details above and someone will contact you within 2-3 working days to arrange your free trial guitar lesson.
Your free trial guitar lesson at our Warrington store will last approximately 30-45 minutes and gives a taster of the course. We will also explain the cost of the lessons and advise of available lesson times.
Free Trial Lessons (FTL) are open to anyone (providing they are above the minimum age) so it really is NEVER too late to learn. All of our Warrington guitar teachers have adult classes and in some cases operate mixed age classes so we really do have something for everyone.
Where a prospective student has previous experience the guitar teacher may offer a free one-to-one consultation instead of a FTL, with a view to putting the student into an already existing guitar class.
Please note that free trial guitar lessons at Warrington take place when there are enough students to fill a group, this may mean your details being kept on a waiting list until the next available FTL. Some of our music schools only offer lessons during term-time, where this is the case FTLs are held in term-time.
Free taster guitar lessons are available to those who are not already existing students of Dawsons Music School at Warrington. A taster guitar lesson will be held by arrangement with the teacher providing the student is above the minimum age for the relevant course.
