Taking up where its popular predecessor, the MPK49, left off the Akai MPK88 USB MIDI Controller is equipped with genuine 16 MPC pads, along with an 88-key, fully weighted, hammer-action keyboard. In addition you get Q-Link controls and a selection of MPC technologies. On the stage or in the studio the Akai MPK88 Controller is a showstopper.

Full, melodic control is yours thanks to the Akai MPK88’s aftertouch feature included with the controller’s fully weighted, hammer-action keyboard. The MC pads are also velocity and pressure sensitive for full expressive control and with 16 in the arsenal, each with the capability to access four banks of sound you can have a total of 64 samples at hand.

Tracking and editing is easy with the Akai MPK 88 USB MIDI Controller’s dedicated transport controls, while the modulation and pitch-bend wheels allow you to be even more expressive. With a pair of footswitch inputs you can connect an expression pedal and a footswitch, for momentary control.

The Akai MPK88 USB MIDI Controller gives you a lot more than meets the eye thanks to the Q-Link assignable control section. With eight virtual knobs, eight virtual buttons and eight virtual sliders, and 3 banks of assignable parameters you actually have control of 24 virtual knobs, 24 virtual buttons and 24 virtual sliders! That’s a total of 72 Q-Link controls!

Two note-modifying features that made their debut in the MPC series have made their way into the Akai MPK88 USB Controller. MPC Note Repeat has the controller automatically play a rhythm pattern accurately and quickly. MPC Swing takes a perfectly aligned sequence and makes the timing a little more human, with the results depending on the degree and timing of swing specified by the user.

Giving even more functionality to the Akai MPK-88’s keyboard you have a splint function to control two sounds from the one keyboard. There is also a built-in arpeggiator with a library of rhythms to choose from. None-pianists can select a note or chord, and a rhythm pattern and let the Akai MPK88 MIDI Controller do its thing.

Use it With Your Software

Bus powered the Akai MPK88 USB/MIDI Controller send MIDI values over USB, and being MIDI complaint you can use it with most of your MIDI software. If you haven’t got any recording software your in luck as the Akai MPK88 comes supplied with Ableton Live Lite Akai Edition, which is perfect for getting you composing, recording, remixing and editing straight out the box.
