Dawsons Music has a long established relationship with the Education sector. We were one of the first UK music retailers to open a dedicated Education division. We are proud to have this relationship, which was born out of the growing demand for musical instruments and music technology in schools throughout the UK.
Dawsons supplies a broad range of musical instruments, from acoustic & digital pianos to synthesizers, from drum kits to a broad range of world percussion and from guitars of all shapes and sizes to ukuleles, banjos and mandolins. We have orchestral instruments to support all players in all types of music ensembles and to support the more technical musicians; we have the very latest in music technology.

Education Customers
We have a wide range of customers, some of whom include the largest music services in the country, as well as the smallest schools in some of the remotest locations in the UK.
From initial projects such as the development of access technologies for special needs schools (in partnership with York University), Dawsons soon became accepted as a company whose ethos was to assist and support teachers in the classroom, by not only supplying appropriate instruments and equipment, but by also offering unrivaled pre-sales advice and after-sales care and support.
Music Technology

Dawsons pioneered the use of computers in the classroom at a time when schools were unfamiliar with this form of music technology. Through careful planning and by listening to what our customers needed, we were able to supply computer equipments that was cost effective, reliable, and helped school music departments to develop their music technology curriculum.
We don't just supply product. We work with our customers from start to finish. In most cases, this means that we help to install the equipment and also deliver high quality on-site training. We do this via our team of dedicated Education Department staff.
More recently, Dawsons Education department has been appointed as an Apple Solution Expert in Education. This is a prestigious award and we are one of only a few companies in the country to have received this recognition. More and more schools and colleges are moving towards Apple as their product of choice for music technology. In part, this is due to the ease of use of the Apple platform, particularly when utilising music software such as GarageBand or Logic.
Education Team
Director of Education, William Thompson, a former music teacher and adviser, heads the Education Department. William is a graduate of Cambridge University, where he was also a choral scholar in the world-famous Kings College Choir.
William's background, in both classroom music and technology, has given him a unique insight into the development of music ICT in schools. Supporting William are a team of highly qualified education advisers based across the UK. We have dedicated Education staff in the North & South of England, in Scotland, and in Northern Ireland. In addition, we have further support staff based in both our Warrington Head Office and our Bangor support center in County Down, Northern Ireland.
The new Education website provides unparalleled access to teacher resources and helpful guides, which continues the tradition of Dawsons in providing unrivalled support for Education customers across the UK and Ireland.
