The Electro Harmonix Bass Soul Food Bass Guitar Effects Pedal is designed to equip your tone with a roaring, natural-sounding overdrive whilst retaining the integrity of your dry signal. A vast range of sounds can be pulled from this beauty, enabling you to soar from clean boost to full-on dirty overdrive.
The Bass Soul Food's ability to blend the dry signal from your bass with the overdrive circuitry guarantees stability and consistency of tone, ensuring unrivalled articulation with no bottom-end dropout or tail-off. The Bass Soul Food has a generous level of volume to play with, so you can rest assured that you'll never be lost in the mix. Whatever your style or setup, from jacked-up blues to delicate jazz, the Bass Soul Food gives your tone the lift it deserves without compromising tonality.
The four-knob layout gives you everything you need to shape your tone. The Drive Knob controls the amount of input gain, taking you from a subtle injection of fuzz to a face-melting overdrive - and everything between. The Treble knob acts as your tone control. When set to the 12 o’clock (50%) position the tone is neutral. Turn it clockwise to make your tone brighter, turn it anti-clockwise to emphasise lower frequencies signals - simple!
The Blend knob allows you to mix your dry signal with the pedal's effect, so you can precisely shape the tone to your exacting requirements. The Volume knob sets the master output level of the pedal, so you can control the impact the effect makes when you engage/disengage the pedal - which is carried out by using the footswitch.
The Footswitch selects whether the Bass Soul Food is engaged or in bypass mode. When the effect is engaged, the LED is lit. Electro Harmonix has included an internal Bypass Mode switch to select between True Bypass and Buffered Bypass. When the switch is set to True, its upper position, bypass will be True Bypass. When the switch is set to Buffer, its lower position, bypass will be Buffered Bypass. The switch is normally set to “True” in the factory. In True Bypass mode, when the Bass Soul Food is set to bypass, the Input jack is connected directly to the AMP jack and nothing else. In Buffered Bypass mode, the bypass signal passes through a high quality buffer circuit before it is output from the AMP jack. The buffer circuit requires power to hear your instrument in bypass mode.
The Pad Switch (-10dB/0dB) sets the initial input level of your bass signal, depending on whether or not your bass is equipped with active or passive pickups. You can rest assured that your signal won't overload the circuitry. Electro Harmonix has included their 9.6DC-200 power supply with every pedal, but for times when you need to go mobile, 9V batteries can be used to power the Bass Soul Food.
If you're looking to give your bass the boost it deserves, then the Electro Harmonix Bass Soul Food Bass Guitar Effect Pedal is the perfect choice to gain that professional edge.
