The Electro Harmonix Octave Multiplexer Guitar Effects Pedal is a classic '70s pedal hailed by many for its unique character and deep down and dirty tones. Whether you play guitar, bass, or perform vocals, the Octave Multiplexer allows you to beef up your tone with some sub-octave power.
The Octave Multiplexer is a monophonic monster, which handles single notes like a champ. If you're playing low-end notes, it allows you to dig even deeper to produce some bone-shaking sub-octave energy. If you're playing mid to high frequency notes, then this little beauty will pull out some delightfully gnarly fuzz tones that are perfect for those that like to rock.
The control layout is delightfully simple with High Filter, Blend, Bass Filter, Sub Switch and Bypass Footswitch. The High Filter adjust the shape of the tone with regard to the sub-octaves higher frequency harmonics. Turn this clockwise to produce a snarling, raspy fuzz. The Bass Filter adjust the sub-octaves fundamental and lower frequency harmonics, and you might have guessed, the more clockwise the dial, the fatter and denser your bass tone.
The Sub Switch turns the Bass Filter on or off, so that when it is switched off then only the high pass filter is active. The Blend pot is a straight up wet/dry control: counter-clockwise is 100% dry, clockwise is 100% wet - it couldn't be simpler!
The instrument input takes in your guitar/bass/mic/whatever you want if it is via 1/4-inch jack, then you can output both a dry signal (which is connected directly to the input jack), and an effected signal. Splitting the outputs offers you greater signal routing opportunities, depending on how elaborate your pedalboard arrangement is. You'll be pleased to know that the Multiplexer comes in a more compact form than its predecessor, and slips into any setup nicely.
As we've come to expect from the team at EHX, the Octave Multiplexer Guitar Effects Pedal is built like a tank and ready to do your bidding as soon as it arrives. Included with the pedal is a 9V battery, but it can also be powered by a 9V power supply.
