Description

Details

The Epiphone Dot 335 electric guitar is Epiphone's immaculate rendition of the much-loved Gibson ES-335 "Dot", which has itself been cherished by fans around the world for over four decades.

The Epiphone Dot is constructed using the finest laminated maple available. The body is built to a hollowbody design, with a mahogany centre block. The deeply resonant maple works wonderfully in combination with the body shape, to generate incredibly rich tones that are project with vigour through the gorgeous f-holes in the body top. The mahogany centre block tempers the signal, preventing the output from becoming harsh sounding at high levels of volume - essential for those who're looking to play overdriven music.

The body is finished in a divine vintage sunburst, with a neat binding that skirts the edge where the top meets the sides. A black pickguard protects the lower bout of the body beneath the pickguard, and around the lower f-hole. Strings meet the body via the LockTone locking tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece to ensure the sustain cultivated between the strings, neck, and body is well preserved.

SlimTaper "D" Mahogany Neck

Paired with the body is a glued-in 24.75" scale length mahogany neck, providing the perfect support for the fingerboard and strings. Shaped to the SlimTaper "D" profile, the neck is an absolute joy to play along. Married to the neck is a rosewood fingerboard, which is home to 22-frets that are lovingly adorned with traditional "dot" position inlays - where the Dot gets its name from.

At the top of the neck is the traditional sloped Dovewing Epiphone headstock, carrying the 1.68" nut that carries out the task of upholding uniform string tension meticulously. Premium 16:1 gear ratio Grover machine heads keep your tuning held steadfast throughout the most energetic of performances.

Colourful Tonal Palette

The Epiphone Dot 335 electric guitar has been treated to a pair of Alnico Classic humbucker pickups, with a Classic in the neck position and a Classic Plus in the bridge position. Control comes in the form of full-size 1" 500kOhm pots - traditional Kalamazoo-style TopHats no less - that enables independent adjustment over volume and tone for each pickup.

The Dot isn't just the reserve of Jazz musicians. Many tones can be easily extracted from this sublime pickup pairing, make it wonderfully versatile and able to tackle whatever genre you like. The beauty with the full-size pots is that the volume controls preserve the highs as you roll back the volume, and the tone controls retain the smoothness of the signal, whilst enabling a predictable treble roll-off.

The Epiphone Dot 335 is a truly breathtaking guitar. If you're looking for a resilient and versatile touring partner, then look no further. The range of tones delivered by the pickups is matched by the richness and clarity of the tonewoods' timbre.

Customer Reviews
What a great instrument
Posted on 03/08/2015 by Ian H Have been playing guitar for many years, acoustic and solid electrics (Strats, Les Pauls etc) but never had an Arch Top before. I am so impressed with this instrument, both in quality and playability. It will handle anything from Blues/Jazz to Rock and even Classical with some experimentation with the pickups. If you only ever buy 1 guitar this has to way up there on your wish list. Thanks again Dawsons in Chester.
Great, truely versatile instrument
