The Epiphone DR-212 Acoustic Guitar is a purpose-designed 12-string, capable of handling the stress of the extra strings as well as giving additional support to the top by employing the proper bracing. This creates a guitar with a big sound and a distinctively balanced, cutting tone that is perfect for blues, folk, rock, and country. In truth though, with the unique sound that belongs to twelve string guitars and the exceptional reliability of this particular example, you’ll want to try the DR212 in every genre, and you’ll be glad you did.
Select spruce has been used in the construction of the Epiphone DR 212 12-String Guitar’s top, for its richness and the unique characteristics it builds the more you play it. The body is constructed from mahogany; a wood that positioned at the back and sides also plays-in well and gives more as the years go by, it is also visually the perfect partner to the spruce top, giving a darker aesthetic to offset the lighter hue.
The top and body are joined by a properly sized bridge that benefits from being made of solid rosewood, giving the guitar the extra strength it needs to cope with the additional strings and the extra stress they bring to the instrument.
Finishing off the body of the guitar is a classic black, vintage-style pickguard, along with its iconic Epiphone ‘E’, which rests atop a background of natural wood.
Classic Neck and Head
Making up the 25.5” scale length of the guitar is a mahogany neck, which has been glued into the body at the 14th fret. This is carved to the ever-playable SlimTaper profile and is joined by a rosewood fingerboard sporting dot inlays and a nut width of 1.75-inches. This guides us to the famous Dovewing-shaped headstock, which is equipped with a set of nickel-finished, premium tuners.
