Taking Epiphone’s semi-hollow body making prowess and combing it with the Gibson-designed ES-335, the Epiphone Dot has been a staple of many guitarist’s collections for over a decade now. Taking this much-loved, cross-genre tone machine and stripping it back to offer it to the more budget-aware player Epiphone present the Epiphone Limited Edition Dot Studio.
Stripped back it may be but the Epiphone Limited Edition Dot Studio is still a Dot, with all that entails. Doing away with only a few extras, that many may find to be superfluous, the Epiphone Limited Edition Dot Studio retains all the great resonance, sustain, sound and build-quality that you would expect of a Dot.
Body
Blurring the lines between the Studio and the standard Dot this limited edition version of the model features a laminated maple body, with a mahogany centre block. The same 24.75” scale mahogany neck has also been hand-fitted and glued-in. The neck has a comfortable SlimTaper “D” shape profile and is topped by a rosewood fingerboard.
Electronics
The Epiphone Limited Edition Dot Studio Guitar’s soulful, bluesy tones are given voice by a pair of Vintage Alnico Humbuckers, which are controlled easily by a three-way selector switch and volume & tone control knobs.
Hardware
The classic Epiphone pairing of a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece is equipped on the Epiphone Limited Edition Dot Studio to offer exceptional stability and sustain. Grover machine heads are also in place to offer tuning accuracy.
