The ESP E-II series are Japanese built models, crafted by ESP luthiers and designed for musicians who're looking for high-end models at a more affordable price. The Eclipse DB is a sublime instrument that has it all: looks, craftsmanship and killer tone!
The ESP E-II Eclipse DB may have a familiar body shape, but it is most definitely its own master. Built from solid mahogany and married with a gorgeous maple top, the body has the best of both worlds with a warm mid to low-end belly with crisp definition in the upper register. The body is finished in an imposing vintage black style encased in complimentary gold binding, sure to grab everyone's attention based on looks alone.
The set-thru mahogany adds to the clout of the body by ensuring the strings have a responsive and resonant platform to generate miles of sustain. Fitted to the neck is the classy ebony fingerboard, offering up 22 XJ-sized frets that create the most luxurious playing feel imaginable. The thin U neck contour makes playing this neck incredibly comfortable, ensuring you'll never tire of spending time with this beauty; infact you may find it hard to put down once you pick it up!
Fitted with the classic combination of EMG 60 and EMG 81 humbuckers in the neck and bridge position respectively, the Eclipse has all the tonal power and versatility you could want - just ask James Hetfield. The 60 offers an output with astonishing clarity that fizzes with a distinctive mid-range crunch, perfect for rhythm players who like their sound to have a bit of bite. The 81 delivers a searing tone that is great for lead playing or chunky palm-muted riffing.
Control over the pickups couldn't be easier. Individual volume controls for each pickup give you total control over the output level of each, a master tone switch controls both, and a three-way pickup selector switch allows you to select either pickup individual or combine it with the volume pots to create your own blend.
Gotoh locking tuners keep your strings secured no matter how hard or long you play for, whilst the Gotoh TOM bridge and tailpiece ensures the strings are anchored to the body seamlessly.
It doesn't matter what level you're at or what genre you play - although metallers and rockers will definitely find a lot to appreciate in the pickup combination here - the ESP E-II Eclipse DB blows the competition out of the water and at this price you'd have to have a pretty good reason not to get one. For the pros, you've just found your new gigging workhorse. It even comes with a hardcase so you're pretty much good to go straight out of the box. What more could you ask for?
