Fender are always looking for new ways to impress their audience, providing the best possible sound from a well-built instrument. The American Professional series takes traditional features and adds some new and improved appointments to appeal to many modern musicians. The American Pro Jazz Bass Fretless has a timeless design and a beautiful sound, all with a slick feel and appearance.
Fender have selected alder as the tonewood to construct the Jazz Bass Fretless body, known for its versatile tones in a wide range of instruments. A prominent feature of alder is that it has a lightweight, comfortable feel enhanced by its offset-waist shape and double cutaways. This allows for full neck access, and it ultimately feels incredibly comfortable to wield.
Fast, Fretless Neck
A maple neck is firmly joined to the body shaped to the modern "Slim C" profile, nestling perfectly in any hand. The neck shape is ideal for even faster riffing which any bassist can enjoy. The 34 inch scale length maple neck is further reinforced by a Posiflex graphite support rod which acts to prevent warping.
A 9.5 inch radius rosewood fingerboard tops the neck with a total of 20 narrow-tall frets to explore. As this is a Fretless bass, there are no fret markings except for the white line markers to define one fret from the next, which looks super neat.
Jazz Bass Pickups
There are two new, outstanding V-Mod Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups fitted to the Fretless body courtesy of the legend himself, Michael Bump. Powered by alnico magnets, this single-coil pairing produces a wide range of well-balanced and full-bodied bass tones. Despite being a "Jazz Bass", this model covers a vast range of exciting musical genres, from modern rock, even to the likes of disco and funk.
Fender have opted for a simple control layout, with two Volume controls to tweak each individual pickup (one in the bridge and another in the neck), while a Master Tone control rounds this off perfectly. The vintage-style black plastic Jazz Bass control knobs complement every finish.
This American Professional Jazz Bass Fretless is more than ready to take onstage thanks to some top quality gig-ready hardware. Tuning stability has been improved immensely thanks to the addition of redesigned Fender Lightweight Vintage-Style tuning keys which each have tapered shafts. This inventive feature means that the optimum break angle is accomplished, plus each string is wound perfectly to ensure they stay firmly in tune.
The Jazz Bass Fretless produces unparalleled sustain and intonation, all as a result of the 4-Saddle HiMass Vintage bridge which works in conjunction with the tuning keys and bone nut.
To keep this beautiful bass well-protected whether just in storage or for transporting from one venue to the next, Fender also include an Elite molded case.
