A guitar model that embodies the very spirit of rock and roll, the Stratocaster is recognised the world over by guitarists and non-guitarists alike. Despite it being seemingly being unchanged throughout its long length of service the Strat has actually seen many small changes over the years that have seen it steadily improve and kept at the forefront of guitar technology.
In this model the plastic parts exchanged for aged plastic parts, for a delightfully vintage vibe, and the previous pickups have been switched out for Fender Custom Shop Fat ’50s single-coil, which offer a fuller sound compared to the original Strat tone.
Iconic Shape, Classic Tonewood
Alder has been used in most of the Strats created, and the Fender American Standard Stratocaster is no different, as the tonewood is noted for producing beefy lows and sparkling highs, while having a solid, but lightweight, body.
Crafted to the iconic shape this model has been given a thinner undercoat, so that the alder can resonate more freely and breathe easier. This has then been coated with a protective layer of urethane. Giving a high contrast to the colour of the body, the three-ply pickguard complements the aged white plastic controls and aged white switch tip.
Incredibly Comfortable Modern C Profile
Another appointment that Fender is famed for is their necks. Here the maple neck has been carved to the incredibly comfortable Modern C profile and finished with satin urethane for a tactile feel. This is kept in place by a four-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt adjustment, which keeps the neck solid, whist offering easy adjustment.
With its 9.5” radius and 22 medium jumbo frets, the Fender American Standard Stratocaster’s maple fingerboard provides a pleasing playing surface, and black dot position inlays mark your way. The fingerboard is improved further by its rolled edges that give a smoother feel, as if the guitar has already been broken-in.
Scale Length of 25.5" (648 mm) Includes…
The neck of the Fender American Standard Stratocaster rest between a synthetic bone nut, with a width of 1.685” (42.8 mm), and a 2-point synchronized tremolo bridge with bent steel saddles and a copper-infused block. This partnership produces exceptional intonation and sustain, while remaining easy to adjust and offering fluid tremolo action.
New Pickups – Worry Not
Those that are concerned about the Fender American Standard Stratocaster’s new Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil pickups should not be. The classic Strat tone is still in attendance but these hotter pickups produce a warmer, fuller sound with an enhanced bass response, without any harsh mid-range.
