A master of punk/hard rock and country music, Chris Shiflett is known for his contributions to both, in mega-band Foo Fighters, and his own band, Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants. With this in mind, his signature guitar was always going to be a Tele, and this one is closely modelled on his very own '72 Tele' Deluxe.
The result is the Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe, an instrument that along with giving you a taste of Shiflett’s own original instrument also gives you some tasty touches that have been chosen by the artist himself.
'72 Tele Deluxe Body Profile
A classic ingredient in many of the instruments from the factories of Fender, alder has been used to create the body of the Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe; tonally balanced and shaped to the sleek '72 Tele' Deluxe profile. A new finish for the model, the body is coated with a Black polyester finish and matched up with a 3-ply white/black/white pickguard.
Constructed from of a single piece of maple, the neck of the guitar is kept sturdily in place with a 3-bolt neck plate with MicroTilt, which has been stamped with the classic ‘F. Giving a slender dynamic for the fretting hand, plus giving a feeling of solidness, the neck has been profiled to the famous C-shape. This has also been treated to a urethane finish, giving a smooth surface to slide along.
Married to the neck is a 21 medium-jumbo fretted rosewood fingerboard, with the larger 12” (as opposed to the smaller 9”) radius, ensuring low string action, which is perfect for string bends, while dot position inlays path the way perfectly.
Head to Bridge
Adorned with Shiflett’s signature at its rear, and matching the other ‘70s design elements, the headstock of the Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe takes the shape of the larger, eye-catching ‘70s-style headstock. This is armed up with a set of vintage "F" stamped tuning machines, for absolute tuning integrity, while the bullet-style rod nut finishes things off perfectly. The 6-saddle vintage-style Strat strings-through-body hardtail bridge keeps the classic appointments going, as well as providing steadfast intonation.
Specially-voiced to his specifications and named with Chris Shiflett’s initials, this model swaps out the usual single-coil set up for a pair of humbuckers; the custom-designed CS1 and CS2. Designed both for massive output and absolute control, the pickups are easily manipulated with a 3-way pickup selector switch and 2 volume/2 tone skirted amp knobs.
