The Fender Stratocaster has been a rock 'n' roll staple since its inception in the 1950s. But, there's one era that seems more closely tied to the Stratocaster than another: the 1970s. And that is in no small part due to one James Marshall Hendrix, whose guitar pyrotechnics (and, occasionally, actual pyrotechnics…) placed the Stratocaster at the very top the list of desired guitars for many a budding guitar hero ever since.
The popularity of the 1970s iteration of the Strat has rarely waned, and as a result, Fender re-released the Fender 70s Stratocaster. Featuring the same distinctive looks, with its oversized headstock and 70s logo, the 70s Stratocaster evokes the spirit of that classic era. With an ash body delivering tone alongside distinctive wood figuring, and a ‘U’ profile neck, the 70s Stratocaster has plenty to distinguish it from other Strats. The vintage look is coupled with tone to match, via three single coil, vintage-style pickups, delivering the classic tones featured on too many legendary records to mention.
Additional touches include the 70s bullet truss rod, and vintage-style ‘f’ tuners and, you guessed it, vintage-style tremolo. A deluxe padded gig bag completes the package. With a gloss black finish and Maple neck, the Fender 70s Stratocaster is a bona-fide piece of rock ‘n’ roll history, with enough vintage appointments to give it a character all of its own.
