The luthiers at Fender in Japan are well astute when it comes to crafting their Special Run guitars. This Japanese FSR model draws on an abundance of influence from the traditional Stratocasters of the 1960s to give you a modern take on a classic guitar. With only a small number made available, the FSR Classic 60s Strat is certainly worth of adding to your collection.
Unlike your average Fender Stratocaster which has usually been built from Ash or Alder, the body of this Special Run model is constructed entirely from Basswood. This is a much lighter tonewood that feels even more comfortable to wield. In keeping with tradition of the Fender models released in the 60s, the Japanese FSR Classic 60s Strat has the unmistakeable double cutaway body shape.
A 25.5 inch scale maple neck is firmly fitted to the body by means of a 4-bolt neck joint. For an effortless playing feel, the neck is shaped to a slim "C" profile and given a polyester finish. Access to the neck is facilitated by the double body cutaway, so even the higher registers are within easy reach.
The neck is paired with a smooth rosewood fingerboard of a 7.25 inch radius. With 21 vintage-style frets at your service you have full control over the neck, while decorative white dot inlays guide you from one fret to the next.
Fender Japan have employed a classic SSS pickup configuration in this Classic 60s Strat by using three single-coil Strat pickups in the neck, middle and bridge positions. These pickups combined with the tonewoods of the neck and body provide you with the coveted Fender Stratocaster sound.
Shaping your tone is really simple thanks to a 5-way pickup switch, Master Volume and two tone controls.
The Fender Japanese FSR Classic 60s Strat is kitted out with gold hardware, from the 6-saddle vintage-style synchronised tremolo bridge to the opposite end of the guitar where there are gold Gotoh tuning keys at the headstock. The body is complete with a 3-ply black pickguard to protect against scratches, while aged white plastic control knobs finish off the look.
The Fender Japanese FSR Classic 60s Stratocaster offers ultimate playability and certainly has that iconic Fender look and sound. As this is a Special Run model there is a limited number available in the UK, so act fast to avoid missing out!
