As part of their Magnificent Seven Collection for the 2016 NAMM Show, Fender have created a very special model in the Limited Edition Offset Telecaster. The beauty of this unique model lies in the fusion of two Fender classics: the Jazzmaster and the Telecaster. Taking the sleek curves and slender body depth of the Jazzmaster, then combining the neck, pickups and hardware of a Tele', Fender have established a delightfully playable creation in the Magnificent 7 Limited Edition American Standard Offset Telecaster. With an extremely limited run of only 500 copies of each model being released - worldwide -, it is sure to become a much sought after guitar.
Custom Shop style
Originally crafted in their Custom Shop, the team at Fender yielded to demand to create a longer run of this amazing model, which harmoniously marries the finest features of what Fender guitars are all about: gracefully elegant playing feel, a hearty response and enduring reliability.
The Jazzmaster body shape was designed to ensure an accommodating playing feel for players who played either in a standing or seated position, with an offset waist that made it easier to rest the body on one's knee during performances. The Jazzmaster has long been a favourite amongst guitarists across musical genres, thanks to its softly bevelled edges that create a luxuriously comfortable feel. The body is crafted using alder, a favourite of Fender's thanks to its balanced timbre that makes it a highly versatile tonewood that adapts well to any musical style. Alder is also light in weight, making it a joy to wield for hours on end.
This particular model has been finished in a divine Lake Placid Blue, which is protected by a layer of gloss polyurethane to increase its resilience in handling changes in humidity and temperature (a must-have characteristic in a reliable touring partner).
The hybrid Offset Telecaster gets its name from the inclusion of a super sleek Tele' neck. Crafted completely from maple, the neck is shaped to a modern "C" profile, and treated to a satin finish along the back to guarantee the smoothest possible feel by limiting friction or tackiness from impeding your hand's movement. Paired with the neck is a maple fingerboard, with a 9.5-inch radius for executing smooth string bends. The fingerboard is home to 22 medium-jumbo frets that are adorned with dot position inlays to guide your way in style.
Fitted to the body is a 3-Saddle American Vintage strings-through-body Tele bridge, which is equipped with intonateable brass saddles. The saddles enable rapid adjustment of the string action in order to maintain accurate intonation during performances. Working dutifully alongside the synthetic bone nut and deluxe staggered cast/sealed tuning machines, this enduring Tele' hardware setup upholds tuning integrity with precision, throughout the most energetic of performances.
Custom Shop tones
To give the Offset Telecaster as unique a sound as its design deserves, Fender has included a Custom Vintage-Style single-coil Tele' bridge pickup, and a Custom Shop "Twisted" single-coil Tele' pickup in the neck position. This combination creates a full-bodied response that delivers a powerful burst of energy, providing a swelling midrange punch with softened highs and well-rounded lows.
Control comes in the form of a three-way pickup selector switch that allows each pickup to be selected individually, or both pickups simultaneously for a fuller tone. There is a master volume pot, as well as a master no-load tone pot that enables you to dial back the highs, without introducing unwanted low-end to the signal for a tighter-sounding output.
Each model of the Fender Magnificent 7 Limited Edition American Standard Offset Telecaster is fitted with Fender USA 250L NPS .009 gauge strings, and is supplied with a hardshell case to keep your new pride and joy safe from harm. The limited edition status of the guitar is sealed with a limited edition neck plate.
