Featuring four award winning preamps the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 is the perfect audio interface for large home or project studios and is highly capable of many tasks including recording a whole band live.
The frist interface from Focusrite to have four of their award winning mic pres, the Scarlett 18i8 features two inputs with mic/line/instrument capability and two more that can handle mic/line. Four line inputs on the back of the unit can be used for furhter connection of other instruments or sources, perfect for studio work. ADAT is a further connection you could use, allowing you to connect a mic preamp such as the OctoPre MkII for further connectivity and to take advantage of all 18 inputs.
All four of the inputs of the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 have the trademark "halo" level indicators that light up green or red to show your signal level and whether it is overloading the preamp. Two independent headphone outputs with their own mixes mean you can send different mixes to different players or engineers.
The Focusrite Red 2 and 3 plugins
These new plug-ins are accurate models of Focusrite’s renowned classics the Red 2 equaliser and Red 3 compressor units which are prized and renowned fixtures in professional recording studios the world over. Now, the Red 2 & Red 3 Plug-in Suite lets you exploit the famous natural sound of the originals conveniently from within your DAW of choice including Cubase, Ableton, Logic and Pro Tools.
The plug-ins faithfully reproduce the sonic qualities of the hardware. The Red 2 EQ is a sweet sounding 6-band design, with high/low pass filters,high/low frequency shelves, as well as fully parametric low-mid and high-mid frequency bands. The Red 3 compressor is a VCA compressor design, excellent for natural sounding dynamic control of drums, bass, vocals, and acoustic instruments.
A rugged unibody chassis protects the Scarlett 18i8 and an impressive software bundle is included too giving you all you need to record.
