The ES-330 model of the late 50s is a time-honoured hollowbody guitar that is still expertly crafted in the modern day. The luthiers at Gibson Memphis wanted to reinvigorate the classic 1959 ES-330 and bring it to life, and here we have it. The hollowbody of the ES-330 incorporates the adored tonal qualities of an acoustic guitar into an electric, allowing you to combine the two. With a figured body and warm Vintage Burst finish, this has the authentic look and feel of a true 1959 ES-330.
Gibson went back to find a genuine 1959 model as their foundation, and with this they established a modern ES-330 with a period-correct body shape. The top, back and sides are all constructed from hot-pressed 3-ply maple / poplar / maple, contributing to a comprehensively dynamic, agile range of tones. By using this 3-ply construction it gives the body that unique feel of a 59 model which is what makes it really stand out characteristically.
A smooth, slick mahogany neck is firmly fitted to the ES-330 using a maple spline which increases its strength and durability so it can withstand plenty of action without becoming warped. The neck is shaped to the wonderful 1959 profile, allowing you to achieve a comfortable, sturdy grip.
Topping the neck is a 22-fret fingerboard made from handpicked dark rosewood, decorated with exquisite Mother of Pearl dot inlays to guide you with confidence. The frets are given the Memphis Plek Pro treatment for much better string action, thus feeling more comfortable on the whole. The neck has a scale length of 24 3/4 inches and a 12 inch fingerboard radius for optimum playability.
The Gibson 1959 ES-330 is equipped with dual P90 pickups with dog ear casings, a very familiar feature on an original 50s hollowbody guitar. These pickups have been purposely underwound so as to give you that lively vintage tone that is so well-remembered from the original models of the late 50s. The P90 pickups sound just great whether you're playing rock or jazz genres, as well as many genres in between.
The P90 dog ear pickups are matched with their own controls for Volume and Tone, as well as a 3-way pickup toggle switch to shape your sound.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
An ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge further adds to the vintage styling of the 1959 ES-330 and it is accompanied by a trapeze-style tailpiece, as is often found on many Gibson hollowbody guitars.
The headstock of this stunning 1959 model is fitted with Kluson TonePros tuners with white buttons, ensuring each string remains accurately in tune. The Vintage Burst finish is complemented by tan body binding, nickel hardware and a multi-ply black pickguard with the standard 45 degree bevel.
The ES-330 comes with a Certificate of Authenticity as well as a protective Gibson Memphis case.
