The tone from the original pickups was so unique because of the “unmatched” bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets used, which had been consigned to history as more exact processes were introduced in the factories, but Gibson have created their legendary Burstbucker pickups, to produce classic, rich tones that are true to the originals.
The Gibson VOS ageing process is remarkable, in that it makes guitars look like originals that have aged beautifully and been carefully looked after, without causing any dammage to the guitar. The faded VOS finishes represent the variations in finish of original '59 Les Pauls as they age - due to an inconsistency in the dye used at the time, and the Faded Tobacco Burst finish is very subtle and classy.
