In 1952 the Les Paul model was introduced, eventually it was to become the most revered stringed instrument in the world. Yet deluxe and custom models were produced and became truly iconic. In 1954, the Les Paul custom made its debut and to this day it is still one of the most highly sought after guitar in the world.
In addition to it's absolutely stunning visuals such as this striking silver burst finish and headstock detail the Les Paul custom offers the revolutionary ABR – 1 bridge which was a pioneering revolution in in intonation and remains one of the most revered and copied pieces of guitar hardware ever developed. This truly set the standard for functionality and simplicity and to this day has never been bettered.
The body of the Les Paul custom is thicker with seven-ply body binding on the front and back of the guitar and the multi-bound headstock has a prominent split diamond patterned inlay made from genuine mother of pearl which is true to every Les Paul custom guitar made today. The body is crafted with a beautiful maple top and fitted to the solid mahogany body with routed holes to lessen the weight and improve resonance.
The 24 ¾ inch scale neck is crafted from a solid piece of mahogany and topped with a 22-fret Richlite fingerboard outfitted with pearl block inlays and has Gibson's traditional rounded profile. Further appointments include Gibson's legendary Nashville tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, metal tulip tuners, chrome hardware and a 1 11/16” nut width.
The Les Paul custom comes armed with a 490R pickup in the neck position which offers the tonal characteristics of the original PAFs and in the bridge position is a 498T with an Alnico V magnet making it really hot on mid-range and high frequencies. To customise your tone, there are independent volume and tone controls along with a three-way toggle switch.
The Gibson Les Paul custom guitar offers all the features of the original iconic design with modern appointments and an amazing finish, all made available for the most demanding guitarists today.
