Body

The body is crafted from a solid mahogany back and a premium koa top, two of the most renowned tone-woods available., this gives added depth, punch and clarity in comparison to a single wood body. The Les Paul standard has Gibson's new modern weight relief pattern for exceptional comfort and is available in a range of stunning finishes.

Neck

The solid, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is carved into a new asymmetrical version of the massively popular '60s profile. It's topped off with a bound rosewood fingerboard that makes the 2013 Les Paul Standard superbly playable. Traditional trapezoid inlays keep the neck true to its original design. Classic Gibson constructional elements are present to ensure the new Les Paul Standard plays like the best standards ever and stays true to traditional specs like a 24 ¾” scale length and a 1 11/16” width across the PLEK-cut Corian nut.

Electronics

The 2013 Les Paul Standard is primed with upgraded BurstBucker Pro pickups, #1 in the neck position and #2 in the bridge, following the blueprint for Gibson's hallowed PAF humbuckers of the late '50s but are brought up to date with potted coils for howl-free performance at high volumes and four-conductor wiring that allows for incredible versatility. To achieve single-coil tones, the 2013 Les Paul Standard has push-pull switching on each of the pickups independent volume controls and hum-cancelling performance thanks to the reverse wound/reverse polarity bridge pickup. Pop up the neck pickups tone control for reverse-phase tones or lift the bridge pickups tone knob to tap Gibson’s new pure bypass setting, which routes that pickup straight through to the output jack, bypassing the volume and tone controls for a hotter, clearer sound, making it a great “instant lead” preset.

Tuning

The innovative pairing of a locking TonePros Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensures solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality locking Grover kidney-button tuners ensures smooth, accurate tuning.
