Alongside choice tonewoods the guitar features a pair of powerful humbuckers with coil-splitting.

Body

With a pairing of tonewoods that have stood the test of time (they’ve been appearing on this model for sixty years) the Gibson Les Paul Studio 2013 is set up to deliver consistent, high-quality tone. A carved, solid maple top projects articulation and bite, while the select mahogany body produces the underlining warmth and depth. What’s more the body benefits from a modern weight-relief pattern to keep the weight of the guitar low.

In-keeping with its stripped-back ethos, the body of the 2013 Gibson Les Paul Studio Guitar remains unbound, but being part of the Gold Series the gloss finish of the top meets a satin back. Tastefully complimenting the gloss top is the Studio’s elegant pickguard.

Neck

Quarter-sawn and glued-in the Gibson Les Paul Studio 2013 Electric Guitar utilises a solid mahogany neck. Instantly comfortable in the hands of fast players, the neck has been carved to the '60s SlimTaper profile and is topped by a 22 medium-jumbo fretted, granadillo fingerboard, with a radius of 12-inches, and traditional trapezoid inlays. Like the body this has been left unbound.

Ensuring the best possible sustain, and precise intonation the Gibson Les Paul Studio 2013 Electric Guitar has been outfitted with Gibson’s exceptional combination of a Tune-o-Matic bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. This is in addition to a set of vintage-style TonePros tuners and a PLEK-cut Corian nut.

Electronics

Ensuring you are not left wanting the Gibson Les Paul Studio 2013 Electric Guitar has been loaded up with a pair of coil-tapped PAF-replicated humbuckers with Alnico magnets and 42-AWG wire; supremely versatile combination.

Un-split, the 490R at the neck throws out classic warmth, with deep, raspy blues, while the bridge, with its 498T, burns with scorching, sizzling screams. Activate coil-splitting, via the push-pull controls set into the tone control knobs, and you have a choice of genuine single-soil tones from either pickup, or hum cancelling when the middle position is selected.
