Paying homage to rocks greatest era, the Gibson SG Special ‘70s Tribute Electric Guitar captures the essence of the 1970s with era-specific looks, feeling and tone. Body

The Gibson SG Special ‘70s Tribute Electric Guitar starts as it means to go on with high-quality solid mahogany being used for the body. A classic tonewood, mahogany offers excellent depth and balance, whilst also being lightweight. The body has been carved to the asymmetrical traditional double-cutaway shape to offer the upper-fret access the SG is famed for.

Neck

The maple neck of the Gibson SG Special 1970s Tribute retains the unique profile of the ‘70s. This neck profile gives you a slim .800” deep measurement at the lowest fret, increasing to a chunkier .963” at the 12th, which is great for soloing. The neck has also been equipped with a volute, behind a PLEK-cut Corian nut (with a width of 1-11/16), to strengthen the headstock joint and enhance neck resonance.

The neck of the Gibson SG Special Tribute ‘70s is topped by a chocolate-brown baked maple fingerboard, which is adorned by small block inlays, and has been stripped of any binding to keep the cost down and the focus on the sound.

Electronics

Newly developed for the Gibson ‘70s Tribute range the Dual Blade Alnico Mini Humbuckers, which feature on the Gibson SG Special 70s Tribute, offer vintage tone with modern versatility. Combining the best of the '70s Les Paul Deluxe Mini Humbuckers & the '60s Firebird Mini Humbuckers the Dual Blade Alnico Mini Humbuckers utilise dual steel blades and Alnico magnets. This new pairing gives the Gibson SG Special ‘70s Tribute Guitar its vintage voice, covering everything from singing bluesy tones to full on wailing and crunch.

A three-way selector switch and four control knobs offer control of the pickups.

Finishing Touches

Ensuring the best possible sustain and intonation the Gibson SG Special ‘70s Tribute Electric Guitar is equipped with a Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, alongside a set of vintage-style TonePros tuners with pearloid keys.

Looking the part, as well as playing the part the Gibson SG Special ‘70s Tribute Electric Guitar is finished with a grain-textured satin nitrocellulose lacquer partnered with a cream pickguard and pickup rings and gold knobs.
