The Gretsch G5420T electric guitar breaths new life into the Electromatic range while staying true to the retro styling which we all love the classic guitars for. The new "Black Top" FilterTron pickups are said to be great pickups with classic Gretsch tone available right at your fingertips. This guitar is more than capable of powerful clean sounds and filthy overdrive laden rock rhythms, making it very versatile and ideal for various types of music.
The single cutaway hollow body is made from maple, adorned with the iconic f-holes and styled in a variety of colours, including some retro finishes. Maple is also used for the neck of the Gretsch G5420T, also fitted with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The medium jumbo sized frets and hump block style inlays help to lock down that retro feel with this guitar and make it feel suitably vintage while in your hands.
The hardware is mostly chrome plated, while the Adjusto-Matic bridge is fixed onto a block of rosewood, adding to the visual element, and then partnered with a licensed Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece. Up on the headstock you can see the unmistakable Gretsch logo and open back tuning machines with suitable vintage styling.
As previously mentioned, the Gretsch G5420T features some great pickups that replicate the Baldwin era FilterTron models. The Black Top FilterTron pickups seen here give you great tone and provide a punch to your tone which you just don't see anywhere else but on a Gretsch.
