Gretsch have a long-standing reputation for being the guitar of choice for country, blues and jazz players but have seen an upsurge in interest from modern rockers. For this reason Gretsch have introduced some neat advancements - the spruce centre block - that allows guitarists to utilise the sweet resonant tone that Gretsch guitars are known for, without unwanted feedback at high volume levels.
The G5622T electric guitar includes all the customary build qualities you would expect from Gretsch. The body is built using wonderful dense maple, a resonant tonewood that produces extremely bright, precise tones with tight lows. Inside the body runs a solid spruce centre block, this allows the hollow body to resist resonant-frequency feedback. Therefore, when gain is applied to the signal - through the pickups - it can be accurately controlled to produce a sweet tone, which allows you to crank it up. The spruce and maple combine to give excellent tonal clarity so that each and every note rings out with distinction.
The finish is protected by a thin but extremely durable coating of gloss urethane, allowing the body to resonate without impedance to produce the fullest tone possible. Two "Cats-Eye" soundholes adorn the sleek archtop, each one - as well as the body and fingerboard - is bound to protect them from nicks and complete the cool aesthetic.
The maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, compliment the tonewood in the body but softening the upper and lower frequency ranges and emphasising the mids to give G5622T a full-bodied tone with thundering lows, punchy mids and snappy highs when played hard. Played gently, each note rings out with perfect clarity giving you total confidence in this guitar's ability to perform, no matter what style you wish to play.
The fingerboard is cut to a very comfortable 12.5" radius that rests sweetly in the hand and is absolutely perfect for string bends without the unwanted fret buzz. Classic white pearloid neo-classic "Thumbnail" position inlays guide your way as you play up and down the inviting 21 medium-jumbo frets.
The G5622T features a dual-coil SUPER HiLo'Tron pickup in the bridge, middle and neck position. A huge range of tones can be squeezed out of these three little beauties with no trouble at all. Each pickup has an individual volume control, there is a master tone control for the bridge and middle pickups, and a master volume control. This gives you complete mastery over the output whether you want to play chunky blues sounds, scoop out the mids for over driven hard rock, throw in a bit of everything for throaty jazz tones, beef it up for rock and roll, adopt intricate fingerpicking, etc. This guitar can do it all without breaking a sweat.
The anchored adjusto-matic bridge ensures the strings' connection to the body is guaranteed throughout each and every performance giving you complete reassurance whilst you play. The much loved Bigsby-license B70 vibrato tailpiece allows you to add your own unique nuances to anything you play. Tuning integrity is maintained thanks to the excellent Grover die cast tuners across the headstock so no matter how many times to bend or dive, this guitar can match you every step of the way.
