The Fender '72 Pawn Shop Stratocaster takes many of the best features of a thinline Tele and a fat Strat and combines them in a tastefully quirky package, capturing the essence of guitar customisation. Gems like this were often found unexpectedly in the pawn shops of the '70s, where the thought behind the customisations and the history of the guitar were often just as cool as the guitar itself (many amazing personalised guitars were much-loved and only ever pawned due to financial hardship). The Fender Pawn Shop Series is dedicated to those who broke the mold and made their guitars unique through their pioneering customisations.
The Fender '72 Pawn Shop Stratocaster is quite closely related to the thinline Telecaster (with its semi-hollow body, two chrome control knobs and a Telecaster neck), but with extra power from the pickups a Strat body. The tone is shaped by a Fender Wide Range humbucker in the neck position and a Fender Enforcer bridge pickup (which will suit lead guitarists down to a tee), and just to make things interesting there is a blend control for finding the perfect balance. The tone is augmented by the semi-hollow body which gives a slight acoustic edge to the tone, and adds some familiar sounding warmth. The guitar certainly looks great and has just enough customisation to make it unique without compromising on tone or functionality, indeed the '72 Pawn Shop Strat builds on the great, traditional Fender models and puts them in a new and desirable light.
