The Redwood RS1 beginner’s electric guitar is perfect for those who’re looking for an easy to play model that offers reliability as well as versatility. Every effort has been made to deliver an guitar that is solidly constructed, but is as affordable as possible. However, don’t be fooled by the price tag, this is model punches well above its weight.
Lightweight and Comfortable Body Shape
The body is designed using basswood, a tonewood that is noted for its superb balance of tones across the frequency spectrum, which give basswood a unique timbre. Basswood may produce a robust energy with a flexible dynamic range – a quality that is usually reserved for dense tonewoods – but it is actually quite light in weight. Therefore, the RS1 benefits from having a superb tonality, whilst remaining very comfortable to wield – giving players the best of both worlds!
In order to make the guitar as comfortable as possible, ergonomically designed contours shape the body to enable it to sit against the body snugly during performances. Whether you find that you prefer to wear it high, or sling it low, the RS1 always sits perfectly. The body is finished in a striking white, whilst a 3-ply white pickguard offers a stark visual contrast, whilst offering protection against unwanted pick scrapes.
Slender, Easy to Navigate Neck
Attached to the body is a bolt-on maple neck, shaped to a comfortable “C” profile, which allows it to rest sweetly in the hand. The slender feel of the neck is backed up by the reinforced bolt-on construction. Married to the neck is a sonokelin fingerboard, which carries 21-frets that have white dot position inlays to aid you as you navigate the fingerboard.
Versatile Pickup Arrangement
The Redwood RS1 is fitted with three Wilkinson single-coil pickups in the neck, middle, and bridge (offset) positions respectively. A 5-way pickup switch allows you to select pickups individually, or create subtle blends of two or three at a time - depending on the tone you desire. Using the master volume and two tone pots, you can sculpt your output exactly as you wish. Whether you're looking to execute intricate jazz chops, master the art of country chicken pickin', or shred like a pro, the RS1 has tones to suit every musical genre and style.
Fitted to the body is a single-direction tremolo in the bridge, which allows you to infuse subtle vibrato into your playing. The bridge provides a seamless connection between the strings and body for an anchored playing feel. The tuning machines uphold tuning integrity, whilst working with the nut to maintain string tension and tuning stability.

How do they do it for this price????

I come from a background of high end humbucker guitars, and have always been on the lookout for a Strat single coil style guitar. Saw this in the Dawsons shop and gave it a go. The price tag said £60, but the sound and quality are easily on par with my higher end guitars. Beginners guitars are notorious for going out of tune and for having weak pickups, not this guitar - stable tuning and GREAT sounding pickups. I can't fault these guitars, if you're looking for classic single coil sounds, look no further. At this price it would be rude not to buy one!
