Stock code: 88513Features
- Blacktop Hardware
- Hot Vintage Alnico Humbucking Pickups
- Custom 5-way pickup selection
- Classic Fender design
Fender have really juiced-up the worlds favourite electric guitar with the Blacktop Stratocaster, adding some seriously high-powered pickups to bring us a guitar that will be very much suited to high-gain environments. Built in Fender's excellent Mexican facility, the Blacktop will appeal to players who are looking for an innovative instrument in a familiar style. The "HH" indicates 2 Humbucking pickups, rather than the more traditional "SSS" configuration of 3 single coils.
Essentially we have here a Standard Stratocaster alder body with a bolt-on 22-fret maple neck and all the usual modern spec like synchronised tremolo bridge and medium-jumbo frets.
The chrome-covered Hot Vintage Alnico Humbuckers catch the eye straight away, have been over-wound for increased midrange bark, and along with clever configuration of the 5-way switch, we have a range of awesome sonic possibilities here. You can select just the bridge humbucker for stinging solos, just the neck humbucker for huge rhythmic chord work or both together for a nice all-round balance. Position 2 on the switch splits the two humbuckers giving you a single-coil from both, or position 4 brings in just the front coil of the neck pickup. These sounds are not what you normally associate with a Stratocaster, but neither are the looks! Cool-yet-quirky black Fender amplifier knobs adorn the volume pot and a tone control for each pickup. Check out the rest of the Blacktop range which includes a Telecaster, Jaguar and Jazzmaster in a range of finishes.

I am about to buy one. I tested several in-store and decided to buy a candy apple red one with a maple neck.
The 5 positions give a lot of tone possibilities and the build quality is very good. Overall it’s a very good guitar, for a very decent price. -

Great guitar for learners to pro’s, with a stunningly fast neck, bright tone and above all very good build quality. It’s worth every penny.
