The Ibanez GRG170DX double-cutaway electric guitar in Jewel Blue is perfect for those who want a no-nonsense model that suits fast playing styles. Ibanez has built up a worthy reputation for crafting sublime instruments that are regularly seen in the hands of virtuosos around the world. When Steve Vai keeps returning to have his signature models built by your company, you know you must be doing something right. The GRG170DX benefits from years of experience to deliver a professional quality setup at an entry level price.

The GRG170DX body has been crafted with comfortability at the fore. Sleek curves allow the guitar to hug closely to your body as you play, with a slender profile that is easy to wield. The double-cutaway shape makes it very easy to reach the upper regions of the fingerboard. The body is built using basswood, a lightweight yet tonally balanced tonewood that has a forceful mid range energy. Finished in jewel blue, it looks as cool as you could hope for.

Fitted to the body is a bolt-on maple neck that has been shaped to the lightning fast GRG1 profile, enabling you to navigate its playing surface at incredible speed. Married to the neck is a bound rosewood fingerboard, which is home to 24 medium-sized frets, adorned with stylish sharktooth inlays.

The GRG170DX is armed with two humbuckers, and one single-coil pick up for extended tonal range. The humbuckers offer tonnes of gain in both positions, and the single-coil is great for clean tones and with the true duo selector system, this is an unbelievably versatile guitar. Rock and metal players will immediately fall in love with this setup, but don't be fooled, it's no one-trick pony. The tonal versatility of this system delivers sophisticated cleans, fat mids, and snarling highs that are suited to any and every genre of music you could imagine.

The Fat 10 bridge offers fantastic stability, allowing you to divebomb or scream (or simply add subtle vibrato if that's more your thing). The tuning machines faithfully uphold your tuning with absolute precision, so that no matter how frenetic your performance may get, each and every string will remain in tune.

Great guitar
Posted on 02/06/2014 by Sam I am a beginner and had been looking at buying this guitar for a while and so I bought this guitar and already I'm very pleased with it. Compared to my other 2 guitars it feels great and was easily by far the best sounding, playing and looking guitar I own. It suits my needs, plays very well, was a good price, I would recommend it to any other early guitar player. This is perfect for metal/rock like most Ibanez guitars are, but good for every other genre. It is an amazing colour, shiny and smooth. It’s easy to play and quickly to get used to with a nice clean sound.
Great Guitar
Posted on 11/04/2014 by JM Bought this guitar today, best guitar I've played by far! Tremolo bar was easy to put in (Snap in one) and it's an excellent colour! 5/5. Easy to play, great looking shark fin inlays and clear sound. Since the strings are close to the fretboard, you don't need to apply a lot of pressure! This guitar is amazing for shredding, or for just chilling back without the distortion on. People in the shop let me test it before I bought it too, which was great!
Great Guitar
Posted on 28/12/2013 by Mike Very variable guitar with great output, gives a beautiful grunt for playing fast heavy tunes such as Metallica or Avenged Sevenfold, a hypnotising clear sound for the more melodic metal such as Iron Maiden and for your everyday clean sound, the single coil pickup gives it that extra edge.
Posted on 14/06/2013 by GuitarMental This Ibanez is my favourite Guitar I have ever had the pleasure of playing. I bought the guitar for myself a few months ago... it is the first guitar I have bought and played since I was 18 and I never enjoyed playing the guitar that much because I had the worst guitar ever (until now) The best thing about this Ibanez is its so easy to use Because the strings are so close to the fret board you real don't have to apply a lot of pressure to a chord or string for it to ring clear... Another positive about the guitar is I have only had to minor adjustments to the tuning to find the proper tones and it looks amazing too. All in all I rate this guitar as 5 stars!
