Description

Details

The SR-Series of electric basses are hailed by professionals the world over for their high quality of craftsmanship, and have been since their introduction nearly 30 years ago. The Ibanez SRFF805-BKS SR Fanned 5-String bass guitar has been crafted by the team at the Ibanez Bass Workshop, who have built up a reputation for crafting models to a peerless standard of excellence. Thanks to a harmonious combination of tonewoods, the intricately designed fanned fret layout, and delightfully comfortable playing feel, the SRFF805 is a truly exceptional model.

The super-slender SR body profile allows the bass to rest discreetly against the body during performances for a very comfortable playing feel. The contoured top is designed to create the perfect resting position for your picking arm, enabling players of all shapes, sizes, abilities and playing experience to wield this beauty with ease. Ibanez has employed ash as the body tonewood, which guarantees this model carries a weighty timbre that is filled with a wonderful depth across the frequency spectrum. The natural grain of the wood is displayed proudly through a discreet stained black finish.

Neck

Fitted to the body is a 5-piece jatoba and bubinga neck, which has been shaped to the SRFF5 fanned profile. Each string's scale length is carefully attenuated to optimise intonation and stability, starting at 35.5" for the 5th string and graduating to 34" at the 1st string. In keeping with this design, the 24-frets on the rosewood fingerboard are clearly shaped to accommodate the varying scale lengths across the strings, ensuring a balanced tonal response and consistent tension. The block position inlays, adding a familiar navigational aid, guide your way.

Electronics

The SRFF805 is fitted with Bartolini BH1 pickups - one in the neck position, one in the bridge position -, which translate the lush timbre of the tonewood combination with the utmost transparency. Not only that, but Ibanez has installed a custom electronics setup that includes a powerful 3-band EQ, with an EQ bypass switch, the treble pot offers a passive tone control, and the mid frequency switch allows you to tighten up the pickups' response. The tonal versatility offered by this model is staggering, and you'll never tire of exploring the sonic universe on offer.

Hardware

The body is home to the ever-reliable mono-rail V bridge, which provides a seamless connection between the strings and body, as well as isolated control over each string when making adjustments. The tough tuning machines uphold tuning integrity with absolute precision, so no matter how aggressively you play, or what tuning you choose to adopt, you can rest assured that this bass will match you every step of the way.

For those who've desired a fanned fret bass but have been dissuaded by the price tag, the Ibanez SRFF805-BKS SR fanned 5-string bass guitar is an affordable model that provides a professional level setup to play with. It is clear from the outset that Ibanez's team went to great lengths to create an immaculate model; from the meticulous neck and fingerboard design to the matching finish on the headstock, everything has been executed with precision.
