Description

Details

The Ibanez SRFF806-BKS SR fanned 6-string bass guitar follows in the outstanding tradition set out by the SR-Series of electric basses. By combining the finest tonewoods with superb appointments in a finely crafted design, the Ibanez Bass Workshop team has excelled themselves, introducing a fanned neck and fingerboard partnership at a highly affordable price.

The SR body profile is a beautiful combination of elegance and comfortability. The slender, contoured shape creates a snug fitting shape that enables the bass to rest comfortably against the body during performances. The deep double-cutaway design makes it easy for any player to reach every part of the neck and fingerboard with minimal effort.

Ibanez has employed ash as the body tonewood, which guarantees this model carries a weighty timbre that is filled with a wonderful depth across the frequency spectrum. The natural grain of the wood is displayed proudly through a discreet stained black finish.

Neck

Fitted to the body is a 5-piece jatoba and bubinga neck, which has been shaped to the SRFF5 fanned profile. Each string's scale length is carefully attenuated to optimise intonation and stability, starting at 35.5" for the 6th string and graduating to 33.6" at the 1st string. In keeping with this design, the 24-frets on the rosewood fingerboard are clearly shaped to accommodate the varying scale lengths across the strings, ensuring a balanced tonal response and consistent tension. The block position inlays, adding a familiar navigational aid, guide your way.

Electronics

The SRFF806 is fitted with Bartolini BH1 pickups - one in the neck position, one in the bridge position -, which translate the lush timbre of the tonewood combination with the utmost transparency. Not only that, but Ibanez has installed a custom electronics setup that includes a powerful 3-band EQ, with an EQ bypass switch, the treble pot offers a passive tone control, and the mid frequency switch allows you to tighten up the pickups' response. The tonal versatility offered by this model is staggering, and you'll never tire of exploring the sonic universe on offer.

Hardware

The body is home to the ever-reliable mono-rail V bridge, which provides a seamless connection between the strings and body, as well as isolated control over each string when making adjustments. The tough tuning machines uphold tuning integrity with absolute precision, so no matter how aggressively you play, or what tuning you choose to adopt, you can rest assured that this bass will match you every step of the way.

Though this may be a 6-string model, the exquisitely designed neck profile and fanned fret layout make the SRFF806 surprisingly comfortable to play. Throw in the much respected tonewood of ash, along with the responsive and resilient jatoba/bubinga partnership, as well as an electronics' arrangement that translates the finest aspects of the tonewoods brilliantly - as well as enabling you to shape and sculpt your tone with incredible flexibility -, and you have a heavenly model that is a dream to play. The Ibanez SRFF806-BKS SR fanned 6-string bass guitar takes your playing possibilities to new heights, so grab one now and get exploring.
