A device that you can bring anywhere with you the Korg Monotron offers true analogue synth sound. Despite its shrunken dimensions being a good fit for your pocket and with the capability to be held comfortably in one hand, the Korg Monotron offers massive and dazzling sounds. Hook up an external device via the aux input and you can use all the Korg Monotron’s parameters on your sound via its streamlined control panel, which contains just five knobs and a switch.
Simple enough to be picked up and enjoyed by novices, yet with enough scope and uses for professionals the Korg Monotron is a great analogue synthesiser for just about anyone.
Ribbon Controller Keyboard
Simple to pick up and play the Korg Monotron Analogue Synthesizer features a ribbon controller keyboard. Using simple finger gestures across the keyboard’s surface produces effects, such as vibrato and glide, with ease.
Simple Circuitry
Even the circuitry of the Korg Monotron has been kept simple to give you an intuitive sound creation experience. The circuit consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator, a voltage-controlled filter, and a low frequency oscillator: everything you need for simple analogue synthesis.
VCF Filter
Despite the low price of the Korg Monotron it comes with the much-coveted classic of the synth world: the VCF circuit (as seen on the Korg MS-10 and MS-20). Consisting of two knobs, VCF Cutoff & VCF Peak you can control the frequency or tone of the filter and add extra resonance.
Aux Input
With its aux input you can connect an external audio source into the Monotron’s signal path, just before the VCF. This connectivity allows you to use the Korg Monotron Synthesiser as an effects processor for a number of devices, such as an digital audio player, keyboard, guitar or even a Kaossilator.
Versatile LFO
Capable of controlling the oscillator pitch or the filter cutoff (switchable), you can adjust the speed and the intensity of the Low Frequency Oscillator. What’s more the LFO Rate knob has a built-in LED that pulses in time to the speed of the modulation effect, for visual feedback.
Portable Sound
Along with the option to hook up an additional audio device the Korg Monotron Synth also has connectivity to output to a set of headphones, an external speaker or to a recording device. Alternatively it also has a built-in speaker to share your sound, and with battery operation (two AAA will give you approximately 8 hours of play) you can share with everyone, anywhere.
