The Marshall Class-5 amp series is a series of low wattage amps with huge amounts of analogue character. With classic Marshall tone, these amps are designed to inspire. The Marshall Class-5 head puts this technology into a package to be plugged into the speaker of your choice. With 5-Watts of EL84 power, the Class-5 head is minimal in design, but delivers class-A tone in spades;

LOUD roaring British tone
Overall Rating Posted on 08/06/2012 by Bubbletonic
The Class 5 head is a reasonably priced British made all-tube Marshall amp head. It is fairly compact in size (the same size head as the Marshall 2061x), and light. The amp looks and sounds great atop a 4x12 cab with a good set of speakers, but don't let the 5 watt rating fool you, this 5 watt Class A amp is not bedroom friendly through a 4x12 without some form of attenuation. The "headphone out to cab" trick results in lower output levels but compromises the tone.
So to summarise - sounds excellent running full bore but is also deceptively loud.
