Taking inspiration from great amplifiers of the past but very much a modern amp in itself, the Marshall DSL40C offers four modes with a valve power amp section and plenty of versatility. The DSL (Dual Super Lead) series of Marshall Amps were released in the late 90s and were keenly welcomed by a huge range of guitarists and has often been seen as a prime choice of amplifier to produce a well-known rock sound. With two gain channels and a 5-band EQ, you can shape and mould your tone to just how you want it to be. The DSL40C is a revised and improved combo amp brought to you by Marshall which generates 40 watts of tube power.

Tonal versatility

The Marshall DSL40C features classic gain and ultra gain channels, allowing for varying types and levels of distortion. The classic gain channel is capable of smooth clean tones and features a crunch switch to kick the amp into giving you cutting overdrive. The ultra gain channel has two different voicings, lead 1 and lead 2, to allow for even more tonal variation. A footswitch is included, letting you change channels and toggle reverb on/off while playing.

Equalisation to suit

EQ is shared between the channels with bass, middle, treble and a presence control on offer. A wider variety of sounds are made available through several other EQ options on the Marshall DSL40C. A "tone shift" switch changes the voicing of the mid range in the amplifier and a resonance control changes the bass frequency response. The valve power stage includes EL34 tubes for great tone while a pentode/triode switch lets you lower output for excellent tone at lower volume levels that would also be suitable in a recording studio. All in all, this is an excellent valve head with plenty of opportunity for great Marshall tone.

The Marshall DLS40C offers huge tone with dual control settings to enable you to perform live or in the studio with optimum power.

Customer Reviews
Best amp I've ever owned
Posted on 03/08/2015 by Charlie I bought this amp 3 days ago and I instantly fell in love with it.

I wanted an amp that I could get a John Frusciante/Jimi Hendrix sound from, as soon as I got home I sat down and started searching for that tone. Within minutes of sitting down I had achieved the sound I had been trying to get for years. I use a 2014 Fender Mexican Stratocaster with Semour Duncan SSL 1 Pickups. I can safely say the change of pickups and the purchase of this amp have been the best purchases of the year.
Great Amp, Great Price
Posted on 19/07/2014 by dmack Hello, I bought this amp 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it. It has great tones on all 4 channels, doesn't have a large foot print, and is very versatile. I'm playing an Epiphone Les Paul Standard through it and can only assume it would sound even better with a nicer guitar, but none the less it's made my cheapy sound great. I play anything from classic rock/blues to punk and metal so this was the perfect amp for me in the price point I was looking to buy.
