In keeping with a celebrated tradition, Martin have produced the D-35 acoustic guitar which draws influences from some of their earliest dreadnought creations. The D-35 has an iconic dreadnought body shape and it is known for its strong bass response. It projects a great, rhythm guitar timbre and is a prime choice especially for folk or bluegrass genre enthusiasts. Exceptional tonewoods have been utilised to enhance the overall acoustic output of this Martin D-35, giving it huge appeal.
The D-35 has a dreadnought body shape which is influenced by some of Martin’s earliest guitar developments and is one of the most recognisable body types on this instrument. It helps to produce a deep bass response which the D-35 is most known for, and it offers huge volume with plenty of sustain with every chord or note. The dreadnought body shape is generally very comfortable to play for the majority of guitarists.
The soundboard of the D-35 is made using solid sitka spruce and this tends to be because of its flexibility and scope to produce such an articulate and versatile tonal range. To reduce the weight of the body, Martin use Standard "X" Scalloped bracing beneath the body top. This not only relieves some of the weight, but allows the guitar to vibrate more openly.
Further improving the overall sound output is the solid East Indian rosewood which is employed to construct the back and sides of the D-35. This model has a three-piece East Indian rosewood back which gives it a very unique appearance.
Securely joined to the body is a select hardwood neck with a low oval profile, and is quite long with a scale length of 25.4 inches. Married to the neck is a 20-fret solid black ebony fingerboard which enhances the warmth in each note. Fourteen of the frets are open (unlike other acoustic guitars), so you can access the higher frets without feeling any discomfort. To help you along the frets are sophisticated Style 28 dot position inlays.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
To keep tuning as accurate as possible, Martin have fitted chrome enclosed tuning machines with large buttons to the headstock which are simple to adjust. The belly style bridge is constructed from solid black ebony and it connects firmly with the body and strings so that you can play on for hours with confidence.
Style 28 soundhole rings and a black pickguard decorate the body top while offering additional protection from scratches and dirt.
The Martin D-35 Acoustic Guitar is optimal for bluegrass and folk genres among many others and produces a substantial yet vintage sound output that will fill the room.
